Intro to science fiction TV drama

 1) How does Class meet the conventions of a TV drama series?

Class meets the conventions of a TV drama series by having:

-A dramatic narrative which may start off as normal but then spans out into a mysterious story. 

-An ensemble cast which consists of main characters with their own story lines.

-A use of specific technical codes by using realistic lighting, dialogue, voice overs, point of view shots etc.

-Use of stereotypical 'Stock' characters that helps get the message across quickly.

2) What conventions of the science-fiction genre can you find in the Class trailer? List as many as you can and use NCIS to help you.

In the Class trailer there are a lot of conventions of the science-fiction genre as it contains space travel, advanced technology, aliens who look like humans, people with superior intelligence,futuristic weapons and other planets. 

3) What other genres are suggested by the trailer (e.g. horror)? Is Class an example of a modern hybrid-genre show?

Class is an example of a modern hybrid-genre show as it consists of other genres suggested in the trailer like the horror and romance genre. 

4) Class is a spin-off from Doctor Who. At what point does the character of the Doctor appear in the trailer?

The character of the Doctor appears at the end of the trailer to attract suspense and curiosity from the audience and to attract Doctor Who fans to watch this spin-off. 

5) Who do you think the target audience for Class is? Is this a typical target audience for the science-fiction genre? Give reasons for your answer.

The target audience for Class is teenagers/young adults who are interested in science-fiction/high school drama as Class features characters who are teenagers in high school who experience science-fictional expierences.
