  1) What is a convention of a magazine cover?  A convention from a magazine cover is a cover line. 2) How does the front cover of  Tatler  use media language to appeal to its target audience? The front cover of Tatler uses media language to appeal to it's target audience with their colour scheme. This appeals to their target audience as their colour scheme is more "feminine" and more for women as the colour scheme is like pink which stereotypically we link that colour to women. Another way Tatler uses media language to appeal to their target audience is with typography. Tatler uses Serif which is a font that looks traditional and "posh" which matches their target audience. 1) What key conventions of print adverts can you find and what are the  connotations  or deeper meanings of each convention? The key conventions of print adverts are -Picture of the product- so the consumer knows what the product looks like to buy it. -The background- This skittles advert has a rainbow made of their sweets in the background which connotes happiness, joy, good fortune, peace and sweetness. This can suggest to the audience that if they try the skittles it may make them happy.  - The logo- which is usually positioned in the centre in a large bold font so audience can see what the product looks like. - The slogan- which is positioned at the bottom of the advert in capital letters but made very small underneath the product- this as well may link to the background image/product as the slogan has the word rainbow in it and a rainbow is the background image. 2) For each convention, write about how it might appeal to a target audience.  The target audience is most likely childr

  1) What year was the advert produced? The advert was produced in 1955. 2) How were women represented in most adverts in the 1950s? In the 1950s, women in adverts were represented as housewives to do all the maternal jobs, maids, subservient to men and sexualised.  3) How does the heading message ('OMO makes whites bright') and typography promote the product? The heading message 'OMO makes whites bright' tries to convince the audience that this product actually works and encourages people to buy this product.
